SYT Auditions for Twelfth Night

Thank you for your interest in auditioning for Shakespearean Youth Theatre's 2026 Core Ensemble production of Twelfth Night!

Auditions will be held on October 11th and 12th 2025 between 12pm and 4pm.

Auditions will be held at The Crane Theater, 2303 Kennedy St NE UNIT 120, Minneapolis 55413

Audition slots are scheduled in 15 minute increments. You can select an audition slot at the bottom of this page.

After signing up for an audition slot, you will receive an email with the text we'd like you to read for the audition. It's not necessary to formally prepare or memorize this text, but we recommend reading it over a few times and identifying any words or phrases you don't understand, so that we can chat about them during the audition! Auditions at SYT are very low stress-- we just want to meet you and get a chance to hear you read some text!

You do not need any Shakespeare or theatre experience to audition for SYT.

Production Timeline and Rehearsals

October-November, 2025 After auditioning, actors are notified if they will be offered a spot in the Twelfth Night ensemble.
December 1st - 5th, 2025 • 5-8pm Rehearsals begin with a five-day all-cast Twelfth Night "bootcamp".
December 5th, 2025 • 7pm Parent info session
Early January, 2026 Cast List is sent out
January 5th-March 12th, 2026 Rehearsal period
March 6th-March 12th, 2026 Tech Week
March 13th-March 22nd, 2026 Performances

Twelfth Night "Bootcamp" - December 1st-5th, 2025 5-8pm

Rehearsals for Twelfth Night begin before the holiday break with what we're calling a the Twelfth Night "Bootcamp", which will be a great opportunity for actors to get to know each other, the director, and the play! All actors will be expected to attend all of these sessions. This part of the rehearsal process will focus on getting to know the play, character development, ensemble building, scene work, and more!

Parent Info Session December 5th, 2025 at 7pm

We will hold a cookie potluck and parent meeting to go over expectations and general information for the rehearsal process. At least one parent from each family must attend this meeting.

Rehearsal Period - January 5-March 12th, 2026:

Rehearsals begin January 5th, 2026 and will be held at the Crane Theater. Rehearsals will take place Monday-Thursday between the hours of 4pm to 8pm, and Saturday from 1pm-5pm. Actors will generally be called to 1-3 rehearsals each week, and will rarely be called for the entire four hours. Actors are expected to arrive 5 minutes prior to call time. Please note that we can accept conflicts during this time, as long as we receive them far enough in advance.

Tech Week - March 6th-12th, 2026

Technical rehearsals for Twelfth Night are March 6th-12th. Please note that we CANNOT accommodate any absences or conflicts during this time. Actors MUST be present for the entirety of ALL technical rehearsals!

Performances:

Performances of Twelfth Night will take place on the following dates:

March 13 - 7pm
March 14 - 7pm
March 15 - 2pm

March 17 - 10am*
March 18 - 10am*

March 20 - 7pm
March 21 - 7pm
March 22 - 2pm

* These two performances will be School Matinee Performances. PLEASE NOTE that these performances will take place during the day on week days and will require absence from school! SYT will provide excused absence letters to school officials for these educational performances.

Tuition

Standard tuition for participating in the Core Ensemble is $850. SYT is fully committed accessibility for all – need-based scholarships are available for all SYT programming.
