The Honorary Consul of Italy in Indianapolis can assist only Italian citizens resident in Indiana, registered in AIRE with an updated Indiana address, in their application for a new Italian passport by digitally collecting biometric data (fingerprints and passport photo scan), and authenticating the applicant's signature on the passport application form.After the appointment, applicants may mail the application form, together with the rest of the required documents, to the Passport Office of the Consulate of Italy in Detroit, in order to have their new passport mailed to their address.Children younger than 12 years of age do not require fingerprinting to apply for a passport. Parents applying for a passport for a child who has not yet reached the 12th year of age don't need to request an appointment: the application can be done by mail.The following documents will be required at the time of the appointment:Completed and unsigned application form;Original and a photocopy of a driver's license or State ID to prove residence in the consular district;Two passport-sized photos. Italian passport standard is 35mm x 45mm (1.4in x 1.8in) – If this format is unavailable, US standard 2 x 2 inch passport photos can be used if the head size is no larger than 1 3/8 inches from chin to top. Photos must be in color, with subject directly facing the camera, both eyes open, absolutely with a WHITE BACKGROUND, no shadows, filters, edits or selfies. Please sign on the back of the photo.
